Appointment utilization rate measures how efficiently a service business fills its available time. It's calculated by dividing the number of attended appointments by the total number of available appointment slots, expressed as a percentage. A utilization rate of 80% means 80% of available slots were filled and attended. This metric accounts for both unbooked slots and no-shows. High utilization means the business is maximizing its revenue capacity, while low utilization indicates wasted potential, either because slots aren't being filled or because no-shows are consuming capacity.
